What’s this Journey to Alaska all About?
If you missed last week’s post here’s a quick summary of what this is all about. We’re planning a 3-month road trip to Alaska this summer in our self-converted camper van—Stan the Tan Van. The state known as the Last Frontier boasts 6,640 miles of coastline, the tallest mountain in North America, 100,000 glaciers, and over 322 million acres of public lands.
While Alaska is a dream destination for many outdoor enthusiasts, planning a long trip to remote areas takes a lot of work and research time. Over the next few weeks and months we’re sharing our planning tools, knowledge, and resources with this community to help you plot your own amazing adventure. If you make the trek to Alaska this year, we’d love to meet-up with you along the way.
Today we’re sharing our Alaska road trip route, itinerary, and timeline. This will give you an idea of generally where we’ll be and when. Our plans include ferrying through the Inside Passage, visiting six national parks, and various other stops along the way. You can use parts of this itinerary as a guide for planning your own trip or tag along with us for a while!
